Ellijay is home to several wineries, tasting rooms and local breweries. With 14 wineries and vineyards, a brewery, a distillery, and a hard cidery there are plenty of places to taste something new. These North Georgia wineries offer homegrown hospitality with premier food experiences, each with their own unique atmosphere. Many of these tasting rooms offer live music and food trucks on the weekends.

| Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Chateau Meichtry Vineyard and Winery is only a 20-minute drive from Downtown Ellijay. The vineyard is family owned and operated and boasts a variety of wines from a clean, crisp Pinot Grigio to a delightful Cabernet. The atmosphere is rustic and inviting; you truly feel as if you are in the foothills of a French chateau. Pull up a chair next to the big stone fireplace or grab a seat on the outdoor patio. | People always ask us how we came up with the name. After a long, hard day of vine work, we climbed to the top of the mountain and felt like fainting. From there our nickname, Fainting Goat, was born.
??Do we have goats? We certainly do! We have four real fainting goats on our property, Ronnie, Reagan, Dolley, & Mamie. Our fainting goats` welcome visitors to pet them. For their safety, the goats remain in their pen. We also have award winning wines, a view that only God could create, and a deep love for our business. We welcome you to visit us and would be honored to have you as our guest! |
