| For more than five decades, the Georgia Apple Festival has been a highlight of Gilmer County`s fall season. Held over two exciting weekends in October, visitors flock to Ellijay and East Ellijay to enjoy the festivities. The festival boasts an array of vendors selling handmade and hand-crafted items, live music, on-site demonstrations, and a mouthwatering selection of fair food. The festival`s name is a nod to the abundance of ripening apples found in the surrounding orchards. Despite its significant growth over the years, the Georgia Apple Festival has maintained its small-town charm, making it a beloved event for both locals and visitors alike. Typically, the festival takes place on the first and second full weekends of October.
